Thierry Henry is aiming for the open coaching position as Belgium national coach. As reported by ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’, the former world-class striker has informally informed the association’s leadership that he is interested in the job. The 45-year-old is currently still the official assistant coach of the Red Devils. Henry had previously held the same position from 2016 to 2018.

After the World Cup in Qatar, head coach Roberto Martínez resigned after a total of six years on the sidelines. The Spaniard was unable to lead Belgium’s golden generation around Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne to a title during his tenure. As a successor, the Belgian television station ‘RTBF’ recently brought Philippe Clement (AS Monaco) and Vincent Kompany (FC Burnley) into play alongside Henry.
