Since August last year, work has been going on on the ImmoAgentur Stadium, which opened in 1951 and was renovated and expanded in 1975 and 1993/94.

Among other things, the fly roof will be renewed for around 125,000 euros. The city now intends to further renovate its sports facility with a view to playing in the second Austrian Bundesliga. The decision to do so was made by the city council on January 24th. This was announced by Mayor Michael Ritsch after the meeting.

Floodlights and lawn

According to an internal estimate, the costs for the project, in which the floodlights are adapted and lawns are renewed, amount to around 66,000 euros net. In the run-up to the decision, those responsible at SW Bregenz had applied for the oval to be licensed for the second-highest league. The club is currently playing in the Regionalliga Vorarlberg and, after a very successful season so far, is in first place in the table by a clear point difference.

Investment in SW Bregenz

“In the past, the city has always shown understanding and heart for the footballers of SW Bregenz, not only for the youngsters in the club, where hundreds of children and young people pursue meaningful leisure activities, but also for the top team. This is shown once again by our investment, which will make the stadium fit for the Bundesliga next season,” summarized Mayor Michael Ritsch.

Sports Councilor Felder very pleased

And sports councilor Michael Felder added: “I am very pleased with how SW Bregenz has developed in recent years and is now moving in the direction of the ‘second Bundesliga’. I fully support the licensing of the stadium. The infrastructural measures benefit the professionals and all youngsters alike. Incidentally, this also fits in perfectly with the goals of the Bregenz sports strategy.”
