Buick has launched the all-electric Electra E5 in China, the brand’s first production vehicle developed on the Ultium platform. This large five-seat mid-size electric SUV was developed based on insights from mainstream Chinese consumers and their preference for high-end, high-quality electric mobility. It incorporates Buick’s new EV design, offering forward-looking styling, extraordinary roominess and first-class comfort.

The state-of-the-art Ultium platform offers more possibilities through a balance of luxurious proportions and interior space. The Electra E5 measures 4,892mm in length, 1,905mm in width and 1,655mm in height. Its premium appearance is enhanced by its short overhang and long bonnet design, while its extended wheelbase of 2,954 mm provides competitive interior space. Defined by clean lines, the Electra E5 is characterized by sculptural surfaces on the sides and muscular fenders that reinforce the elegant profile while emphasizing its dynamic stance. A variety of tinted chrome accents add to the upscale and sporty look.

The Electra E5 is the brand’s first EV to feature the new Buick Three Shield logo and incorporate Buick’s expressive new face. Buick’s signature flying wing design element has been redesigned to present a highly sculptural front end. The redesigned double-wing daytime running lights inherit Buick’s family design language, but delivered in a more modern and futuristic way. With exquisite aviation headlights and unique welcome lighting animation, it adds a sense of technology and creates a warm digital dynamic interaction.

The aggressive, large trapezoidal grille with a unique parametric pattern visually widens the stance, giving the vehicle a strong and confident personality. Refined chrome details add to its luxurious feel. The purely sculptural design continues to the rear of the vehicle. The slender interconnected taillights and dynamic wing-shaped LED lighting make it unique on the road and enhance the sense of intelligent luxury. The unique central high-mount brake light echoes the new Buick logo, and the crystal-like inner lens brings a jewel-like effect.

“The closer you get to the car, the more you appreciate it,” Noone said. “Whether it’s the new Buick face, the grille design, the lighting, the trim integration or the jewel-like detailing, you can tell it’s not just a futuristic EV, but a very premium-focused car.”
