roborock is currently presenting the vacuum and floor mopping robots in its new “S8” series at CES, which is being launched with three models: the S8, the S8+ and the S8 Pro Ultra. The S8+ comes with a vacuum station that automatically empties the robot’s dust box. As the top model, the “Pro Ultra” version even comes with a dock with two additional tanks for fresh and dirty water.

To illustrate what 6000 Pa suction power means, Roborock is showing at its CES stand how coffee beans could previously be sucked up (middle), while the new models now also swallow small screws.

What is new in all models is that they are now equipped with a double suction roller on the underside. The new rollers should pick up dirt better and, thanks to their bristle-free design, also not get tangled in the carpet. According to Roborock, the suction power has more than doubled since the last generation: while the models of the S7 series went to work with 2500 Pa, the newcomers should reach up to 6000 Pa.

For wet cleaning, Roborock continues to rely on the “VibraRise” vibration system, which scrubs the floor with up to 3000 shaking movements per minute. However, there are now two vibration modules under the wiping cloth in the S8 series, which should also remove stubborn dirt better. In addition, the new models can lift the cloth to protect the carpet, for example.

With the new S8 series, Roborock relies on double rollers and a second vibration motor under the wiper.

The new “RockDock” of the S8 Ultra Pro has also been thoroughly revised. As before, the dock sucks the dust out of the robot’s chamber and changes the mopping water. What is new, however, is that the wipe is cleaned by the docking station and dried with warm air. This is to finally prevent the rag from smelling. In combination with the dock, the S8 should work without the user having to worry about more than emptying the dust bag and changing the water from time to time.

According to the manufacturer, the 3D obstacle detection has been revised, whereby an infrared camera with appropriate lighting is used to see into dark corners.

According to the list, the S8 as a “bare” device will cost 699 euros, the S8+ with suction station 899 euros. The jump to the S8 Pro Ultra is bigger: 1499 euros are due for this device. All models that come onto the market in white and black should be available in Germany from March.
