Mexico City.- This year it is expected that the Islas Marías will receive around 2,800 visitors, announced the National Confederation for the sake of Commerce (Concanaco), an organization that will be in charge of promoting and selling the tourist destination.
Through a platform it will be possible to plan the trip to visit the site, considered a protected natural area, so it will only have the capacity to receive 300 tourists each weekend.
In a press conference, Héctor Tejada, president of Concanaco, reported that the organization became involved in the promotion of the destination at the request of the Government, since the Confederation developed two digital platforms to promote tourist destinations, among other functions, it is about “Concatour ” and “Concaclick”.
“We received an invitation from Sectur (Secretary of Tourism), when they learned about our platforms to carry all the marketing and promotion of the Marías Islands, all reservations must go through the Concanaco engine, we are the ones who manage through this engine, all promotion and sales operations of the destination.
“We work hand in hand with the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Tourism and this project in the Islas Marías has had good results,” said the business leader.
Islas Marías now has 117 accommodations: 40 hostels, 37 single houses and 40 double houses.
Among the activities offered by the destination are hiking on Isla María Madre, bike rides and observation of endemic species.

At another time during the conference, Héctor Tejada urged the businesses affected by the Anti-Tobacco Law to approach the Confederation to guide them and that they can file injunctions against the regulation.
“Time began to run for the protections. This is an invitation to the companies that truly suits them and affects them to present protections.
“We are prepared with lawyers and the Association of the tobacco industry can also advise them. We thought that everyone was going to protect themselves but they are seeing the affectation that each one is having individually,” he warned.
