China has ended its “zero covid” policy, a lifting of restrictions which has caused the number of cases of covid-19 contamination to explode in the country.

LMorocco announced on Saturday that it would ban travelers from China from entering its territory from January 3 “in order to avoid a new wave of contamination” with the coronavirus.


“The Moroccan authorities have decided to prohibit access to the territory of the Kingdom of Morocco to all travelers, regardless of their nationality, coming from the People’s Republic of China”, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ban will come into effect “from January 3 and until further notice”, specifies the same source.

A decision taken “in light of the evolution of the health situation linked to covid-19 in China”, and “in order to avoid a new wave of contamination in Morocco and all its consequences”, explains the ministry.

Three years after the first cases of coronavirus appeared in Wuhan, in central China, Beijing on December 7 ended its draconian so-called “zero covid” policy without notice. A lifting of restrictions which exploded the cases of covid-19 contamination in the country.
