For a few years now, smartphone owners have tended to welcome a new update with as much fear as curiosity. Indeed, whether you are an avid iPhone user or an Android smartphone owner, a new major update is certainly accompanied by welcome new features, but also sometimes (often?) bugs that can be particularly annoying. This is the case today on the side of OnePlus, which is forced to announce to its customers “DO NOT INSTALL” the latest update.

General alert at OnePlus!

At the end of last year, OnePlus rolled out a new Android 13 update for OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones. An update to say the least expected by users, since the latter then allowed smartphones to migrate to the latest version of the OS signed Google: Android 13. Today, OnePlus was forced to stop the deployment of a new patch, while asking users not to install the update in question.

Worse still, if the first users quickly showed their dissatisfaction, OnePlus took several days to react, the “mistake” at the Chinese New Year. “As some of you may know, the OxygenOS team was out of office last week due to the Chinese New Year. That’s why this message is only published now” indicates the firm.

The update in question is version F.19 of OxygenOS 13, which was deployed a few days ago on OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. The program notably allows you to benefit from the January Android security patch… but it also tends to make some smartphones flinch. Shortly after the rollout, some users reported that they simply couldn’t restart their devices once the update was installed… Annoying.

To all those who have downloaded the update in question, and who are having problems with their smartphone, OnePlus suggests contacting an authorized repair center. The latter will take care of returning to an earlier version of the system, while guaranteeing, as far as possible, the proper preservation of the data stored in the smartphone.

For its part, OnePlus has just announced the deployment of a new version, called F.20, still intended for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, obviously devoid (we hope so in any case) of the slightest problem. Initially, the deployment is reserved for India.

Yet another misadventure which tends, once again, to give full reason to all those who have got into the habit of waiting a few weeks/months before installing a new major system update on their smartphone…
