DoorDash delivery man says he was shot while delivering food in New Haven

Police in New Haven, Connecticut are investigating after a DoorDash driver reported being shot while driving early Wednesday morning.

The police department said they responded to Yale New Haven Hospital around 3:30 a.m. The man told officers he had been shot while in his vehicle. He told police he was making deliveries for DoorDash in East Haven when a group of unknown people approached him and tried to steal his vehicle, the man told officers.

The man said he was shot during the standoff and, despite his injuries, managed to drive back to his West Haven home before contacting police.

Investigators later learned that the incident took place at the intersection of Ferry and Pierpont streets in New Haven. The extent of the man’s injuries is unknown and there are no suspects in custody at this time.
