Man dies after fire in Bronx home

One person died and several were injured in a fire that broke out last night in an apartment building in the Bronx.

The firefighters received the call around 7 o’clock alerting about a fire in one of the Bronx River public housing units, located on the avenue with that same name.

Rescuers found a 39-year-old man unconscious on the tenth floor of the 14-story building.

NYFD emergency crews said the cause of the fatal fire was a lithium-ion battery.

He was later taken to the hospital in critical condition where police say he died from his injuries.

At least three other people were taken to hospital, and nine others were treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters reported that an electric bicycle was found in the entrance of the apartment that was on fire.
