Fans are already eagerly awaiting the new offshoot of the Dragon Age series, but have always received quite bad news in the past. For example, Matt Goldman, senior creative director of Dragon Age Dreadwolf, left Bioware in 2021. The title was in “good hands”, but just recently another of these hands left the company after 19 years.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf: Production Director is leaving Bioware after a full 19 years
We’re talking about Mac Walters, who, among other things, was the lead writer on Mass Effect 2 and 3 and, until recently, was also the production director for the upcoming Dragon Age offshoot. Walters announced the news on last weekend on LinkedIn:
“With a new year comes new adventures. As some of you already know, late last year I made the decision to leave Bioware. These past 19 years have been a life-changing experience, to say the least, and it has made the decision very difficult for me . I’ve worked with so many wonderful people and had the privilege of being part of the most amazing teams and projects. It’s hard to put into words and I know I’ll think about it for years to come.”
A look at Walter’s LinkedIn profile reveals that the developer is currently taking a career break to pursue a personal goal. It’s hard to predict the impact that Walter’s departure will have on Dragon Age Dreadwolf, but it’s not uncommon for developers to come and go over the course of a project. Last December there was a brand new trailer for Dragon Age 4, so the development seems to be progressing at least.
