With a complete success against Kapfenberg SV, SC SAMINA Hohenems wants to take the first step towards the ÖEL final on Saturday.
Hohenems. After the exciting play-off quarter-finals of the Austrian ice hockey league against Althofen, the SC SAMINA Hohenems cracks qualified for the semi-finals and, like last year, meet the Kapfenberg kangaroos.
Kapfenberg gave the HSC the semifinals
A year ago, the Styrians had the better end for themselves and gave the HSC the semifinals. Also in this season the Kapfenbergs have been strong so far and were able to decide the basic round in their favor. After the success in the quarterfinals against VEU Feldkirch, the kangaroos now want to lay a good starting position in Hohenems for the second leg in a week. For KSV player coach Kris Reinthaler and his team, the goal after last year’s runner-up title behind Wattens is clearly defined: The title should go to the Mürztal.
However, there are also these title ambitions in the Nibelungenstadt and so HSC trainer Bernd Schmidle expects two close games against Kapfenberg in which the small mistakes will make the difference. “Kapfenberg have a very good team and we have to play our defensive game very well from the start. In addition, we have to cause a lot of traffic in front of the opposing goalkeeper and use our chances as cold as ice,” the Emser coach hopes for the support of the home fans.
First step towards the final
With the fans behind them, the Steinbocks want to take a first step towards the ÖEL final on Saturday. The game for the first leg against KSV on Saturday, February 25th at the Herrenried Ice Stadium starts at 5.30 p.m. As in the quarter-finals, the total score counts after the first and second leg. The second leg will then take place a week later on March 4th in the Stadthalle Kapfenberg and will also be broadcast live in the HSC clubhouse. MIMA
