Who can represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest? Even if the ESC doesn’t take place until May 13 (Saturday), nine acts are now up for election in the German preliminary round. Who can prevail in “Our Song for Liverpool”? We give an overview: These artists from NRW want to qualify for the ESC:
“Originally there were 548 submissions on eurovision.de or directly to the NDR ESC editorial team that met the criteria,” NDR said in a press release. Eight of the nine places for the preliminary round on March 3 (Friday) have already been determined. The Tik-Tok community can vote for the last place in the show. The previous eight acts were selected by the ESC editorial team as well as by international and national music experts.

ESC preliminary decision: These acts from NRW want to go to Liverpool
- The duo Frieda Gold is qualified for the preliminary decision. The two musicians from Bochum and Hattingen “undoubtedly shaped and shaped German pop culture,” according to the press release. The debut album “Juwel” as well as the following album “Love is my religion” reached gold status. Frida Gold enters with the contribution “All women in me are tired” is a ballad that reflects on being a woman and the social ills associated with it.
- Also Patty Gurdy is qualified for the ESC preliminary round. “Even the stage name of the 25-year-old from Düsseldorf shows a deep connection to her instrument: Hurdy Gurdy is the English translation for the folk instrument hurdy-gurdy,” writes the NDR in the press release. Her “unusual talent is expressed in string compositions between Celtic folk and pop singing.” She starts with her contribution “Melodies of hope”. The song is about confidence and solidarity in difficult times.

ESC preliminary decision will be broadcast on ARD
ARD broadcasts the ESC preliminary decision on March 3 (Friday) from 10:15 p.m. The show will be moderated by Barbara Schöneberger. At the same time the show runs on One, at eurovision.de and in the ARD media library. “In the ARD media center and on eurovision.de, the warm-up can also be seen live from Cologne from 9:20 p.m.,” reports NDR.
