It is part of Borussia Dortmund’s business model to sign promising talents year after year and later let them go for a lot of money. This strategy worked extremely well for Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembélé, but it didn’t work for a few others.

Whether Adnan Januzaj, Alexander Isak or Emre Mor – the list of failed talents at BVB is long. Some of them later found their fortune at other clubs.

After his unsuccessful time at BVB, Mikel Merino ended up at Real Sociedad via detours and matured there to become a Spanish international. Alexander Isak also got back on track at the La Liga club. At the beginning of the current season, Newcastle United had the striker cost 70 million euros.

But none of the above was as hyped before his transfer to BVB as Emre Mor. When he moved to the Ruhr area in 2016 at the age of 19, many reports spoke of the “Turkish Messi”.

However, Mor was never able to meet these immensely high expectations. After just one season, he broke up his tents in Dortmund again. Since then he has played in Spain, Turkey and Greece.

BVB flop Mor convinces at Fenerbahce

In the meantime, Mor has landed back in his Turkish homeland. The winger is currently one of the regulars at Fenerbahce Istanbul: He has made 25 appearances and scored three goals.

The club officials have now demonstrated how important Mor’s well-being is to the club. They had a touching gift ready for the 25-year-old on Friday.

As can be seen in a video posted on Fenerbahce’s Instagram channel, the club gave Mor a Labrador puppy as a gift! When he received the little dog in the presence of his team, he looked incredibly happy and visibly fought back tears.

Gift to ex-BVB star Mor has a sad background

For this you need to know: Mor’s dog and longtime companion Rambo died just about a week ago. “I will always love you,” the former Dortmund player wrote in an emotional post on Instagram for a shared photo.

The fact that he has now received another black Laprador as a gift from his club has a special meaning for Mor. “It’s not a substitute but I see it as a symbol that life goes on,” he wrote in a thank-you post to Fenerbahce.
