It took two years, and now Netflix is finally releasing season 2 of the visually stunning fantasy series “Sweet Tooth”. Robert Downey Junior is again at work as producer.

To refresh your memory, here’s a look back at Season 1 of “Sweet Tooth”: The boy Gus lives alone with his father in the forest and can do whatever he wants there. The only limit that is set for him is a fence behind which post-apocalyptic conditions prevail. A pandemic has wiped out almost everyone (this is probably one of the reasons why the first season took place at the corona wave 2021 their viewers). Gus, like many others, was born into this world as a so-called ‘hybrid’, more immune Human with animal body parts. His antlers and wobbly deer ears are cute, but there is also a problem: after the end of civilization, some ‘Last Men’ hunt children like him. When his father dies, he is left to his own devices and, as a half-orphan, ventures out in search of his mother into the world that was previously forbidden to him.
Fairytale suspense in Season 2
The second season starts on April 27th on Netflix and picks up where the first left off. Gus is imprisoned there after the sanctuary where the animal children were supposed to find shelter was taken over by the boss of the ‘Last Men’ (Neil Sandilands). He and the others are to be used for trials to see if there is a cure for humanity through them. A role is also played by Dr. Singh (Adeel Akhtar), through whom Gus can get information about his mother. Because Birdie seems to have something to do with the outbreak of the virus…
The fairytale story not only spins the grim thought of the apocalypse after a deadly pandemic, but also turns it around Friendship, tolerance and the human struggle between good and evil. The executive producers of the series, based on a DC Comics graphic novel, are Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey.
