FBI joins investigation into threats to members of the grand jury in the case of Donald Trump in Georgia

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) joined the investigation into multiple threats against Fulton County officials in the last few days, including members of the Atlanta grand jury who voted to indict former President Donald Trump and 18 allies for their efforts to change the results of the 2020 election.

According to a spokesman for the FBI office in Atlanta, he said that the agency is ‘aware of threats of violence’ against Fulton County officials and that they are working together with the County Sheriff’s Office to make the pertinent investigations, but he declined to identify specific targets.

“It is our policy not to discuss details of ongoing investigations,” the FBI statement said. “However, any and all potential threats presented to us are taken seriously. Persons found responsible for making threats in violation of state and/or federal laws will be prosecuted”.

The statement came amid growing concern for grand jury members linked in Monday’s indictment after they the names, addresses, photos and social media profiles of some of them were leaked online with threatening messages directed at them and at Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
