Software updates often bring not only bug fixes and new features, but also deterioration and bugs. Anyone who owns a Fitbit Charge 5 and a Samsung smartphone may no longer be able to sync the fitness tracker since Android 13.

Wearables such as the Fitbit Charge 5 fitness tracker regularly synchronize their recordings with a phone so that the data can be viewed and evaluated in an app. After updating the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 4 and other Samsung models to Android 13, the process no longer works as usual.

It is unclear why the bug appears. The problem may be related to software provided by Samsung. According to Sammobile (via 9to5google) an update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 fixed the bug for some users.

Users should use other device

Fitbit is said to have identified the cause of the problem and is currently working on a patch. The bug fix will then be rolled out in early 2023. Until the release, the manufacturer recommends using another device with which the Charge 5 can be synchronized. If you don’t have another smartphone, you could borrow one. Of course, not every user has the option of using a different phone. The only option left to affected Fitbit owners is to wait for the update.

The syncing error is not the only issue brought about by the Android 13 update. Samsung users with YouTube Premium who want to use the picture-in-picture mode and then play music in the background are also looking into the tube.
