It is now a little more than two years since Fortnite disappeared from the App Store and Google Play and although people who already had the game installed could continue to play it as usual, now the situation looks to be getting worse. In a tweet which was published yesterday, Epic revealed that from January 30th it will no longer be possible to spend V-bucks on either the iOS or the Android version of Fortnite. In addition to this, the game’s age limit will also be raised to 18 years.

Epic explained its reasoning behind the decisions by saying that it is done to protect the younger players and comes in the wake of the company being forced to cough up five billion kroner in fines just a month ago for having, according to the verdict, “deceived millions of players into making involuntary purchases” as well as violated laws concerning private information for children.

“We want all versions of our games to use the current suite of Epic Online Services, including parental controls, purchasing defaults, and parental verification features. We are not able to update the app on these platforms given Apple and Google’s restrictions on Fortnite,”

Do you think this will affect Fortnite’s popularity somewhat or will the streak continue?

Satan then, all my hard-earned V-bucks!
