In a latest report, key figures on immigration in France, the ministerial statistics service Immigration – Integration reported nearly 3,451,804 foreign nationals holding residence permits in metropolitan France.
Indeed, until December 31, 2021, the number of valid residence permits and provisional documents increased by 3%. According to this report from the Immigration – Integration statistical services, under the Ministry of the Interior, 41.7% of its documents were granted to nationals of Maghreb countries.
What is the number of Algerians in possession of a residence permit in France?
According to this document, the Algerians occupy the second place of this podium, with in particular 25,783 residence permits. Thus, Algeria is overtaken by Morocco with a total of 35,192 documents granted in 2021. In addition, Algerian nationals on French territory were entitled to 27,439 permits in 2019 and 23,919 permits in 2020.
In addition, among the 25,783 residence permits granted in 2021, 1,278 documents were granted for economic reasons. But also, 7,443 for Algerian students and 15,127 residence permits granted for family reasons, an increase of 2.6% compared to 2020.
With regard to the total of valid titles and provisional documents granted to Algerians in France, the latter is estimated at 610,992 documents. Morocco has 566,641 and 260,935 for Tunisians.
A 4-year residence permit for health professionals in France
To overcome the lack of manpower in these structures, the French government intends to issue a new residence permit. As part of the new immigration law, the “talent-medical and pharmacy professions” card aims to facilitate the recruitment of health professionals in France.
Lasting 4 years, this new residence permit concerns doctors, dental surgeons, midwives, pharmacists, foreigners and Algerians, but also their families. The text of Darmanin’s new law provides for the granting of this new card subject to the validation of knowledge verification tests, but also under the authorization of the Regional Health Agency.
