AVM has released FRITZ!OS 7.51 as a laboratory version for the aging AVM FRITZ!Box 7490. Specifically, testers can install version 7.51-102539 there. AVM has fixed a few errors within the laboratory version, as the changelog shows:
Internet:
- Fixed IPSec VPN connections stopped working sporadically
Mesh:
- Fixed Incorrect connection display on the “Home network > Mesh” page of the user interface when using certain powerline adapters together with a network switch
- Fixed Incorrect connection display on the “Home network > Mesh” page of the user interface after changing the connection of a repeater
home network:
- Fixed The update search display for devices in the mesh was inappropriate in certain cases
Note for users who are not using the laboratory version but want to try it out:
- Read and confirm the displayed notice on the Laboratory page from AVM to your FRITZ!Box.
- Click on “Download” and save the file on your computer.
- Unpacks the laboratory file (*.zip).
- Perform the update via the FRITZ!Box user interface and select “View: Advanced” in the footer.
- Select “System / Update” in the menu.
- Select the “FRITZ!OS file” tab. Save the settings of your FRITZ!Box. The execution must also be confirmed.
- Use “Select file” to select the firmware file that you previously downloaded.
- Click on “Start update”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
The “Info” LED on the FRITZ!Box flashes during the update process. This expires when the update process is complete. Be patient, this process may take a few minutes. As soon as the update is complete, the FRITZ!Box is restarted and is then ready for operation again.
