“Galaxy Quest” is not only considered by sci-fi fans to this day cult film. The parody, which primarily poke fun at franchises like “Stark Trek,” follows a cast of aged actors who starred in the hit (fictional) series “Galaxy Quest” years ago. But after the end none of them became a big star, rather they live on the fame of bygone days and drag themselves from one fan convention to the next. But then real aliens, who are about to be destroyed, become aware of the series. They believe they have found their savior in the “Galaxy Quest” crew and kidnap them so that they can help them. Unfortunately, the actors just stumble from one catastrophe to the next.

“Galaxy Quest” is an all-round successful parody that makes fun of the sci-fi genre and its clichés – without being disrespectful. The star-studded cast is also terrific. Tim Allen (“Listen Who’s Banging”), Sigourney Weaver (“Alien”), Alan Rickman (“Harry Potter”), Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri”) and Tony Shalhoub (“Monk “) the main roles.

There was already several attempts to revive “Galaxy Quest” in the form of a series. As early as 2015, Paramount developed a concept that was then sold to Amazon. However, the series never got past the planning stage. The second attempt followed two years later and this time Paramount and Amazon were also involved. But as in 2015, the series project stopped during the planning phase. Reasons for this were the death of Alan Rickman in 2016 and Tim Allen’s busy schedule.
