A trucker who started his trip from Cordova with destiny a Mendozahe ran into a control of National Gendarmerie and there they discovered that he was transporting, hidden, a total of 31 million pesos. The event occurred on Wednesday afternoon, when gendarmerie personnel stopped the truck to carry out a routine check. However, upon inspecting the cargo, they observed a toolbox that contained six blocks of cardboard inside. When they opened them, they detected the bills for a total sum of 31,000,000 pesos in cash and in different denominations.

For this reason, the staff asked the driver for documentation certifying the origin and legality of the funds. However, according to the report after the procedure, the man became nervous and could not justify his possession of the money and an investigation was opened to determine where the money came from.

After detecting the irregularity on the part of the trucker, intervention was given to personnel from the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) together with General Directorate of Administration (DGA) of Mendoza and Federal Court 3, which ordered the confiscation of the money.

Since the driver failed to provide any documentation or justification for the million-dollar sum of money, it was decided to open an investigation for alleged money laundering.

Days ago, Customs prevented the smuggling of historical pieces worth millions. A couple returning to Buenos Aires from Uruguay tried to smuggle in a collection of historical coins and bills, including coins minted in the Malvinas dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II.

The illegal shipment is valued at more than 120,000 dollars and was detected by specialized agents of the General Directorate of Customs-AFIP during vehicle control at the landing of a ship from Colonia, sources in the case told Infobae.

The case was detected from the inspection of a vehicle driven by the owner of ArgCollectibles, a well-known coin store in downtown Buenos Aires. Before the ship arrived in Buenos Aires, Customs received an Interpol alert about the coin expert, since he already had three criminal cases.
