The images used by Google’s retail partners include a comparison of the Pixel 7a with its predecessor, the Pixel 6a. The display does not change in terms of size and resolution, but the 7a should be able to offer an increased maximum refresh rate of 90 Hertz.

Under the hood, the Google Tensor G2 is now the same chip that drives the flagship smartphones of the Pixel 7 series. Google aggressively advertises its secure enclave for storing user data integrated in the Tensor G2. Furthermore, it is confirmed that the Pixel 7a now offers a main camera with 64 megapixels, while the additional ultra-wide camera works with 13 megapixels.
Google’s comparison table therefore also advertises that the 7a can offer up to eight times magnification using Super Res Zoom. The front camera on the Pixel 7a also has a higher resolution than before with 13 megapixels. Another welcome innovation is that the new Google smartphone, unlike its predecessor, now comes with wireless charging.
battery and prices
Incidentally, the battery in the Pixel 7a has shrunk slightly and is now 4385 mAh (previously 4410 mAh). It can be quickly charged with up to 30 watts using the appropriate power supply unit – which is not included ex works. It is still unclear what the Google Pixel 7a will cost in Europe. A slight price increase to 499 dollars is expected for the USA, so that we have to reckon with 539 to 549 euros in this country. The Pixel 7a will be presented alongside Google’s other new products at next week’s Google I/O.
