The FDP wants to tinker around with the heating law of Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) again at the last minute. After the municipal utility association VKU warned that Habeck’s plan to allow green gas instead of natural gas nationwide in the future was not realistic. This would mean that new gas heaters could no longer be used, the warning said.

But that is what the FDP wants. Your parliamentary group leader in the Bundestag, Christian Dürr, is now urging Habeck via “Bild” to improve the law: “We need as many technologies as possible to meet the different requirements. If there is a need for improvement, then the Ministry of Economic Affairs has to do it again.” People should continue to be able to heat with gas in the future, according to Dürr.

“I expect that practicable solutions will be developed here”

Open to technology and socially acceptable – that’s what the FDP is committed to. Her Secretary General Bijan Djir-Sarai also sends a request to Habeck via “Bild”: “The Ministry of Economics must now take a close look at all the points of criticism and develop solutions. I expect practical solutions to be developed here.”

The approval of the FDP is of course indispensable both in the cabinet and in a later vote in the Bundestag on the law. The Greens need the Liberals on their side. It will be seen in the coming days whether he will make improvements again.
