Ex-national player Dietmar Hamann has criticized Hertha BSC coach Pal Dardai for his choice of words towards midfielder Ivan Sunjic on the training ground. “The principle is respect. You can’t talk to a player like that,” Hamann said on Sky90 on Sunday. Dardai had previously sent Sunijic into the dressing room in clear words during training. “Fuck off here, bye,” said Dardai, as seen in a video broadcast by Sky. According to reports, indiscipline was the trigger.
“He has the right to send him away, but the choice of words doesn’t work,” said former soccer professional Hamann about the scene. “He owes the player and the other players an apology somewhere,” said Hamann. Dardai had announced that he wanted to take action at the bottom of the table. The Berliners lost the first game after his return to the coaching bench 4-2 against Werder Bremen on Saturday. (dpa)
