Head of DC Studios considers fan opinions to cast actors

Co-CEO da DC Studios, James Gunn confirmed in publication on Threads which considers fans’ opinions when casting actors in certain roles.

Obviously, “favorites” will often not be chosen, but there is a good chance they will come up in discussions with the filmmaker and his support team.

“When I’m casting a role, I sometimes look at who the fans have suggested, especially those that I or my casting directors didn’t consider. Sometimes they have good ideas, while other times they are terrible.”

Declared.

“I don’t remember that actually leading to anyone being cast, though.”

Many, by the way, believed that David Corenswet in Superman: Legacy it had been a classic case of “fancast”, but it wasn’t quite that.

The actor had been on Gunn’s radar since pre-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3where he participated in the auditions for Adam Warlock.

The main cast will also bring Nicholas Hoult (O Menu) como Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) como Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced (Family Justice) as Hawkgirl, Eddie Gathegi (X-Men: First Class) as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan (Barry) as Shapeshifter, and Mara Gabriela De Fara (Deadly Class) as The Engineer.

Superman: Legacy have direction and script James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad), and is scheduled for July 11, 2025.

According to the official description, the film will focus on the hero trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He’s kindness in a world that thinks it’s old-fashioned.
