This Tuesday could hardly have ended worse for Hertha. The Berliners had to take a hard beating against VfL Wolfsburg. After a bitter 0: 5 (0: 3), Hertha are second to last, they have only won one game in the past six games.

The club is now in danger of losing touch with the competition. And that shortly before the important city derby against Union Berlin.

Clear that the disappointment at Hertha BSC is huge. Both for the team, as well as for the coach and the board. They never had a chance against Wolfsburg on Tuesday.

“It was really underground. We ran around in vain.”

After a rough Hertha blunder: fans give a whistle concert

This sight hurt Hertha fans: The club didn’t have a reasonable chance to score in the first half. Most of the match took place in their own half of the field. Hertha’s sports director Fredi Bobic even described the first half on “Sky” as “the worst” he had seen this season. “It was really underground. We ran around like crazy. The next few days are going to be tough for the boys.”

At halftime there was a booing concert from the Hertha fans. Things looked a little better for the Berliners in the second half. Winger Dodi Lukébakio was engaged against his former club. But his most promising ball went wide to the left of the goal in the 51st minute. Finally, the Wolfsburg sank two more balls. Not least because of a blunder on the part of Hertha.

Despite the disappointment: Bobic does not want to doubt the coaching position. Black is “not even remotely up for discussion”, after all, trust in the 44-year-old is still great.

Apparently most fans see it the same way. Numerous Hertha supporters defend the head coach on social networks. Accordingly, the defeat is a good example of the fact that the coach is not always to blame. Instead, the swatter is the result of massive mistakes by individual players.

A user writes:

“Hertha have tried everything in recent years, swapped all positions, overturned processes… The only thing that has never been tried is consistency in the coaching position. I don’t think that a coaching discussion is the right way at the moment.”

Hertha wants to work up gossip: Trainer Schwarz massively “disappointed”

But Schwarz himself burst after the debacle in the Olympic Stadium at home. He explains the gossip like this: “I think we got in really badly. We didn’t have access in the first half.” It was better in the second half.

Nevertheless, he describes the game against Wolfsburg as “disappointing”. Now, obviously, the first thing to do is the analytical work-up: “Everyone has to question themselves critically, including the head coach, of course, and everyone involved. We got a slap in the face today.”

In any case, giving up is not on the agenda. “Recover and get up,” the club tweeted the day after the game. Managing Director Fredi Bobic doesn’t want to stick his head in the sand either. He told “Sky”: “We’re going through with it!”
