Burn Out, in contrast to “Burn On”, is known to many.

“Burn On itself is not an independent diagnosis. It’s actually called a permanent burn,” explains psychotherapist Daniela Tschallener on the “Vorarlberg LIVE” show.

With burn out you go from a constant burn to a state of exhaustion and with burn on the permanent stress level is maintained. “It can affect everyone. The inner pressure to perform that we add to wanting to do a good job can add to the stress level and ultimately lead to burn-on,” explains Tschallener.

However, if you look at the symptoms, it is not easy to distinguish them from each other. “When you burn on, you run in a hamster wheel and somewhere you burn out inside, there is a lack of reference, joy and joy at work,” says the psychotherapist. “Ultimately, we realize that we can’t achieve that and fall into a void inside. With burnout, there’s physical exhaustion.” That is why you should introduce rest periods. “You have to be honest with yourself when the stress is too much and take breaks.”
