Holcim completed the purchase of the assets and operation of PASA®, a Mexican manufacturer of waterproofing, concrete additives, coatings and paints.

This is the second acquisition of the cement company so far this year, since last March it bought INDAR, the main hardware wholesaler in the Central-Western region of the Mexican Republic.

According to information released by the company, PASA® will add more than 38 million dollars to the net sales of Holcim in the “profitable market of Mexico and Central America”.

In this way, the cement company directed by Jaime Hill, added to its portfolio: 2 manufacturing plants and 13 distribution centers (CEDIS).

In addition, the more than 160 third-party authorized distribution centers, 34 multi-brand authorized distributors and 168 PASA authorized distributors were left under his responsibility, through which he will market his own products, such as the GacoFlex waterproofing line.

Aims at the maintenance of real estate

According to estimates of Holcim Mexicoup to 80% of the current buildings and infrastructure will continue to be used in the year 2050, so offering products for repair, renovation and rehabilitation plays an increasing role for the company.

In this sense, Jaime Hill, CEO of Holcim Mexicoexplained that 70% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the construction sector They are generated by the buildings in use, so the ecological and sustainable approach is essential in the industry.

“To reduce this footprint, we are expanding our solutions, with PASA® being an ideal ally in promoting buildings in use are more sustainable over time, in order to decarbonise our cities,” Hill said.

It is worth mentioning that Holcim Mexico produces and markets cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates (gravel and sand) and other products for the construction. With sustainability at the heart of its strategy, it is in the process of becoming a Net Zero company.

The Swiss firm has a national presence through 7 cement plants and a grinding plant with a current installed capacity to produce 13.3 million tons per year, as well as 37 CEDIS, 61 ready-mix concrete plants, 4,000 employees, a Center for Technological Innovation for Construction (CITEC), and more.
