Mexico City.- After learning of statements by former Nayarit prosecutor Edgar Veytia that he gave a line to support “El Chapo”, former president Felipe Calderón affirmed that they are lies and that he never negotiated or agreed with criminals.

Calderón described Veytia’s statements at the trial of Genaro García Luna in New York as absurd.

“I have reserved my opinion on the trial of Eng. García Luna until it is concluded. For now I categorically deny the absurd statements reported by the press made today by the witness Veytia. What he says about me is an absolute lie. I never negotiated or agreed with criminals”, he tweeted from his account @FelipeCalderon.

The former Attorney General of Nayarit Edgar Veytia accused before a court in New York that former President Felipe Calderón allegedly gave a line to favor Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán in the war he was waging with the Beltrán Leyva.

When appearing in the trial that is being followed in the Court of the Eastern District of the former Secretary of Public Security, Genaro García Luna, Veytia maintained that it was the former governor of Nayarit Ney González who referred him to the alleged line suggested by the former president.

According to his account, in 2011, after a kidnapping by municipal police officers, he met with González, who told him that he had just returned from a meeting with the former president and with García Luna, in which he pointed out that they told him that the line was with the chapos. .
