Currently, we see him trying to survive in the jungles of Thailand, in the Prime Video show Good Luck Guys. When Erlend Elias guests Good evening Norway, the celebrity stylist says that this is the first time in a long time that he has felt healthy during a reality recording.

– I met the wall in 2018, and became very mentally ill. I also got fat from all the meds. So I retired and didn’t do any TV after Camp Kulinaris.

During the recording which took place in the summer of 2018, he withdrew when he lost his father.

– I went through cancer, a breakup and my dad died. So it was a giant merry-go-round, explains Erlend Elias, who was operated on for testicular cancer in 2015 and had to undergo follow-up for five years.

– I remember very well what it was like to be down. It’s been a shameful taboo to talk about, but I think it’s important to show that people who are on TV and have nice lives on Instagram can also face the wall and have a damn good time.

He realized something was wrong when he would rather lie in bed than be social.

– And when you just turn the phone over when it rings, when you’re not too concerned about showering. When the routines in life go in a completely different direction, the warning lights should flash, says Erlend Elias, and continues:

– When you fall into a deep depression and are on TV at the same time. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

He singles out the ELLE party in 2019 as a bottom line.

– My thing was that I wore a lot of make-up, tousled my hair, and wore a lot of bling bling. I looked like the sickest Michael Jackson and the late Elizabeth Taylor had had a baby. Absolutely terrifying, but I tried everything I could, he explains.

Wanted to end life

In the months before he admitted himself, he just lay in bed.

– Then my little brother came in three times a day and checked. It was thanks to him, my mother and other family that I recovered. So it goes without saying that I’m sitting here, I thought about ending it many times, says Erlend Elias candidly.

– It is very nice to be allowed to be back and say that you are healthy.

Now he has some fixed routines to ensure that it stays that way.

– It’s about not putting on too much, exercising, eating healthy, being kind to yourself. Simply live a more harmonious life and not be predatory. Think positively, positivism is my religion, says Erlend Elias.

He took two years off from all television assignments, which became three when the pandemic hit. Now he thinks it’s wonderful to be back in Good Luck Guys.

– I didn’t want to go on anything until I felt healthy mentally and physically. To get into conflicts when you don’t think rationally, it’s not lucky for me, and no fun for those around me.

Erlend Elias clicks and wants to leave the production: – Send me to Bangkok!
