The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Chihuahua urged the population to use the “Vida Suero Oral” to prevent and treat dehydration and diarrhea in this hot season.

The Public Health coordinator, Brenda Ramírez Vega, explained that dehydration is the most frequent complication produced by diarrhea, in which large amounts of water and salts are lost; so she warned that if it is not treated on time, it can cause death.

Therefore, he stressed that the use of “Vida Suero Oral” is highly recommended, which contains sodium, trisodium citrate, potassium and glucose, to prevent and treat dehydration, since these sachets are one of the best tools to help recover the liquids, salts and minerals that the body loses in these cases, in which children under five are the most vulnerable group.

He indicated that these envelopes are distributed free of charge among the population in all IMSS Family Medicine Units (UMF), where they are available to the general public upon request.

He commented that the “Life Oral Serum” should be supplied when there are warning signs, such as: dry skin and mouth, sunken eyes, paleness, rapid breathing, and in the case of children under one year of age, fontanelle ) depressed, they should also seek medical attention as soon as possible.

He explained that it is easy to prepare, through the following steps: Wash your hands, boil a liter of water for five minutes, let it cool, empty the envelope of “Vida Suero Oral” in the water, until it dissolves and discard after 24 hours of being prepared.

Finally, Dr. Ramírez Vega urged the eligible population to regularly visit the PrevenIMSS modules, located in all the FMUs, where they will receive important information for health care, as well as timely detection of diseases.
