Bregenz (BRK) – For a year now, work has been going on on the new construction of the Bregenz indoor swimming pool, the largest municipal building project in the history of the city.

In the city council on May 4th, the attached sauna was once again on the agenda.

After tenders had been issued, the necessary sheet metal work for the flat roof and for the interior sealing was awarded. Both services together cost 1.47 million euros net. The basement of the indoor pool and sauna complex is currently being completed. The entire shell of the building should be ready before the coming winter. A few weeks ago, all those interested were able to find out about the progress of construction during an inspection.

“Despite the high investments, indoor pools, saunas and outdoor pools are a must for locals and guests, for children, young people, families, the elderly and for our clubs. A refurbished old building would never have met the legitimate expectations and the ecological requirements,” said Mayor Michael Ritsch with conviction.

In addition to the new building according to the plans of ARGE Riegger, Metzler, Schelling, which emerged as the winner of an EU-wide architectural competition in 2020, the overall project also includes the complete renovation of the outdoor pool facilities. As of today, costs of around 72 million euros will be incurred for everything together. If one takes into account inflation and thus the indexation of construction work, corresponding adjustments can still be expected.

The opening of the new leisure facility including a spacious sauna area is planned for 2025, the overall completion including the planned new cycle path for 2026.
