The distinctions of the 2023 Konex Prize were announced. In this framework, 15 researchers from the National University of La Plata are part of the list of the 100 most outstanding personalities of Science and Technology in Argentina in the last 10 years, who will receive the Diploma of Merit.
In this way, Dr. Ricardo Maronna, Dr. María Teresa Dova and Dr. Gustavo Romero will receive the Merit Diploma for the Mathematics discipline. For Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Dr. Zulma Brandoni de Gasparini, Dr. Fernando Novas and Dr. Sergio Vizcaíno. Regarding the Microbiology and Immunology discipline, Dr. Daniela Hozbor and Dr. María Eugenia Rodríguez will be distinguished.
For its part, in Technological Development, the recognition will go to Dr. Marcos Daniel Actis and Dr. Mónica Casella; while in Agricultural and Food Sciences the diploma will be for Dr. María, Alejandra García and Dr. Noemí Zaritzky. Eng. Luis de Vedia will receive the award for Engineering and for Information Sciences and Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Gabriel Mindlin. Within the Special Mentions, in the “The Unforgettables” category, Dr. Alejandro Arvía, who died in 2021, will be honored.
Another fact to highlight is that the UNLP researcher is part of the prestigious jury. She is Dr. María Cristina Añón, recognized with the 2013 Konex Platinum Award: Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine and Food.
The Konex Awards – Diplomas of Merit ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at the Konex Cultural City.
In this way, the annual awards of the Konex Awards continue, this being its 44th edition and the fifth time that the Activity of Science and Technology is considered.
It is worth recalling that they were Konex de Brillante, highest award awarded by the Konex Foundation, Luis Federico Leloir in 1983, René G. Favaloro and César Milstein in 1993, Luis Caffarelli and Mirta Roses in 2003, and Alberto R. Kornblihtt and Juan Martin Maldacena in 2013.
