Mexico City.- Federal and local legislators from Morena warned the magistrates of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), that annulling the extension of the mandate of the national leadership is an illegal intervention in its internal life.

A few days after the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal determines whether President Mario Delgado and the Secretary General, Citlalli Hernández, conclude their term in August 2023 or 2024, the morenistas are pressing to keep them in office.

Just as the Governors did on Sunday, the Association of Legislators of the so-called “4T” published a statement on Monday in which they give their support to their national leaders.

The legislators assure that the proposal of Judge Janine Otálora is an attack against the autonomy of the party and “the solidity” of its basic documents.

“The aforementioned project is clearly unjustified, since it is evident that it is an attempt to intervene in the organic and democratic life of this political institute, violating the rights of its management bodies and trampling on the will of its militants.

“Annuling the decision of the National Council of Morena violates the democratic freedom to define the leaders of the party,” they justified.

They argue that Delgado and Hernández, with a democratic sense, have led the party in a dignified, legal and successful manner.

They attribute to them the majority that Morena achieved in the governorships and in the Chamber of Deputies, even, they affirm, for this reason it is “the largest Latin American party with a defined political program on the left.”

“The democratic life of the country and the rule of law must not be violated by interests and actions contrary to the law.

“Morena is a democratic and transparent party, in which internal decisions are made by the bases, it is the morenistas from all over the country who are responsible for leading their movement,” they pointed out.

Morena’s National Institute for Political Training also issued a statement warning that if approved, not only would an illegal interference in internal life be perpetrated, but the Court would demonstrate its partiality and seriously discredit the institution.

“The claim to behead the Morena leadership one year after the presidential election can only be seen as an effort to affect the performance of our party at the polls and, by extension, favor the opposition political forces.

“We urge the country’s highest court to remain legal and be consistent with its own resolutions that endorsed the holding of the Morena Congress,” said the Institute.

On their social networks, Delgado and Hernández dedicated themselves this Monday to thanking the support of Governors and legislators.

Meanwhile, the Morenista National Convention attacked the Governors and defenders of the leadership, whom it assured that Otálora’s project is not an illegal interference, but rather restores internal legality.

“The decision of next Wednesday the 19th would imply the recovery of the democratic institutional framework and respect for the statutes that Morena, who has the historical responsibility of not repeating the same vices of the old regime of the PRI state party where public officials, instead of the popular bases ruled the party”, they refuted in another pronouncement.
