Not to be missed and the church dedicated to Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Laurenbuilt in 1740, but later enlarged in 1925. The building is in Baroque style and dominates the village with its stone bell towerfrom the typical pyramid shape. Adjacent to the church is the medieval garden. A very special story
We cannot talk about Saillon without referring to a very particular character. Let’s talk about Farinet, defined as the Robin Hood of the Alps. He was a well-known forger who minted counterfeit coins to give them to the poor of the country. Legend has it that his belongings are still found in a hidden cave near the village.
Farinet met his death by throwing himself off a cliff. Right in this place stands a suspended bridge which takes the name of “Farinet catwalk”. The more adventurous will be able to walk it.
