‘8 Mile’ redefined Eminem’s legacy

Eminem in 2002 was already considered one of the biggest rappers in the music industry and was on his way to legendary status. But beyond the music, in that same he got other important successes with the premiere of 8 miles in theaters.

The film follows the story of an aspiring rapper known as B-Rabbit, who must navigate a difficult life while living in a working-class part of Detroit, while seeking recognition in the local hip-hop scene. And if, the movie is partially based on some biographical aspects of Eminem himself.

The plot and drama (we got effortless verse) are great, while the denouement is even inspiring.. The tape also left us an incredible song like “Lose Yourself”which made history as the first rap song to win Best Original Song at the Oscars. You can watch it on Netflix and here we leave you some information about 8 miles that maybe you didn’t know.

‘Straight Outta Compton’ is one of the best musical biopics

Within hip-hop culture, rap is the music par excellence.. And within rap, one of the most significant evolutions is due to the NWA, the band that led Dr Dre, Eazy-E and Ice Cube towards the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s. They were the ones who established the so-called ‘gangsta rap’, primarily inspired by the hard life in the Compton, California region.

NWA are hip-hop legends, and it was only fitting that their story was captured in a movie… That’s how it came Straight Outta Compton in 2015which further helped elevate the trend of musical biopics in today’s film industry.

Also, it’s nostalgic to see O’shea Jackson Jr (Ice Cube’s son) playing his father this time. One of the coolest hip-hop movies ever seen. You can watch it on HBO Max, Netflix and Prime Video.

‘Beat Street’ Is A Film That Incredibly Captures The Beginnings Of Hip-Hop

As read in the profile of Apple TV (where you can see in purchase or rent modality), Beat Street is considered ‘one of the best hip-hop movies ever’. And it is that there are few tapes that really give a broad panorama of the elements that make up hip-hop culture.

This story follows a group of friends in which each one works within the spheres of the DJ, breakdancing, MC’s and graffiti, among other things. Each one will do everything possible to obtain recognition and a better life opportunity… but they will also realize the difficulties and even the tragedies that this entails.

The movie also works as a basic but very good introduction to those artists with whom hip-hop was born, i.e. DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and more.

‘Roxanne Roxanne’ pays tribute to one of the most important women in hip-hop

Rap/hip-hop is historically dominated by men. But with the passage of time, the genre has opened up for women to show their talent as well. And it is fair to say that much of this is due to the legendary Roxanne Shanté.

Born Lolita Shanté Gooden, Roxanne is recognized as one of the first women to gain notoriety within New York hip-hop. And she did it at only 14 years old.

However, in her life and during her career, she faced more complications: a dysfunctional family, poverty, male violence and sexualization towards her person, the social stigma of being a woman in a male-dominated art scene… And despite this, she managed to leave an unbreakable legacy like herself. Roxanne Roxanne It’s on Netflix.

Kush Groove

This is one of the movies about hip-hop that not many remember, but it was has some pretty cool things that are worth watching if you’re a lover of the musical genre. Kush Groove It’s basically a biopic about how he started the iconic Def Jam Recordings label.although with some substantial changes to the real story.

Here, we meet the record executive Russell Walker, who has slowly been able to sign some of the hottest rap/hip-hop acts to Kush Groove Records of the moment in the 80s. But that ambition and getting ahead of the record company will not be easy.

The best of the film are undoubtedly the cameos, because in it they appear Run DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boysamong other great artists. The film is available to purchase and rent on both Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video..
