This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of one of the most emblematic golf clubs in Mexico: Los Tabachines Golf Clubin Cuernavaca, created by Mauricio Urdaneta Ortiz and Amelia Casas Bernard.
Since 1973, thousands of families and prominent personalities, such as jack nicklaus (the best player in the world followed by Tiger Woods), Abraham Ancer, Bing Crosby, María Félix, Rufino Tamayo, the Shah of Iran or the champion Lorena Ochoa, have enjoyed the course designed by Percy Clifford, either taking a walk or playing in it.
With pride, happiness, longing and modesty, Los Tabachines celebrates half a century with the exhibition of ten pieces of Rafael Cauduro: ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’, ‘Two Angels Two’, ‘Trascabo with two women’, ‘Pablo with Trascabo’, ‘Tzompantli, masks and an angel’, ‘Day of the Dead Party’, ‘The dance’, ‘Undo machine of steam from N. de M’., ‘History in the caboose’ and ‘La fiesta’; In addition, six pieces by the three-dimensional and abstract muralist of Spanish origin Juan Antonio Abellán Juliá: ‘Loving in Cozumel’, ‘Orange Diptych’, ‘Gold and Skin Diptych’, ‘Mandala’, ‘Skin, Gold and Purple’; two pieces by the current director of the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda” Carla Rippey: ‘The Star and Mimesis’; and two pieces by the Italian-Mexican artist Luigi Fantini (1982): ‘Ashes to reality’ and ‘L’ inizio della vita’. All the aforementioned pieces are found inside the recently remodeled Casa Club, a project led by the architect Tayde Ramirez and the architecture studio RADO.
This new stage in the land of the chinelos aims to runite a new generation of golfersfamilies and people in general, while exhibiting the talent of plastic artists in a city where personalities such as Barbara Hutton, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Elena Garro, Erich Fromm, Helen Hayes, Hernán Cortés, John Steinbeck once lived. , Maximilian I of Mexico, Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”, Pablo Neruda, among many others.
As part of the cultural activities of Club de Golf Los Tabachines, It is planned that each quarter a different collection of plastic works will be exhibited.
