Over 12,000 people have so far been confirmed dead after Turkey and Syria were hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on Monday night.

The World Health Organization estimates that as many as 20,000 may have been killed in the quake.

One who now says that she wants to contribute with what she can is Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu (28).

In 2022, she and Davide Sanclimenti (28) won the hearts of the “Love Island UK” viewers, and thus walked away with the prize money of £50,000. The two are still a couple today.

The reality star was born in England to her Turkish parents, and previously lived in Istanbul where she worked as an actress in a Turkish soap series.

To Sky News says the 28-year-old that family members have had to sleep outside as a result of the earthquake.

– It’s scary because there are people who are very close to me.

Cülcüloğlu tells the news channel that countless people have contacted her on social media, sending their location and photos, among other things.

– It’s as if they are screaming for help, and I want to use my platform for that, she says and emphasizes that this applies both in Syria and Turkey.

When asked if she could think of physically going to contribute, she replies:

– Yes. Obviously it’s my home and my second language. As soon as I get the chance I will go there.

The influencer has over 3 million followers on Instagram.

This week she has shared that she has donated money to rescue work, and collaborated with the British Red Cross, where she has encouraged people to donate money to finance the rescue work in the affected countries.
