Man claims to be from Office Depot, breaks into Pembroke Pines home, leaves woman injured

A Pembroke Pines woman recovers from her injuries after a man claiming to be from Office Depot attacked her at her home during a burglary attempt.

According to a press release from the victim’s lawyer, security cameras captured the moment the man forced his way into the house, throwing the woman to the ground to gain access and steal items from the house.

The victim received medical treatment in the emergency room of an area hospital and has since been released, according to the victim’s attorney.

A search of public records showed that Sadiki Washington, 40, of Miramar, was taken into custody in connection with the attempted robbery and assault.

According to the victim’s attorney, Adam David Ingber, the suspect was not acting on his own but for Home Depot, claiming that Washington was there to steal for the retailer.

“In the circumstances, it appears that Office Depot did not properly train and vette its agents and employees, and that this is likely part of a pattern of disregard for the safety of its customers in order to outsource and save costs. The use of force here was Too smart to be an isolated incident.” said Mr. Ingber.

Ingber stated that, under the legal principles of Assignment and Delegation, “Office Depot cannot be relieved of its responsibilities to its customers simply by outsourcing the task. Certain legal obligations cannot be delegated, and even when Office Depot hires someone else to meet these obligations, Office Depot remains liable until its own obligations are met.”

“Ms. Osorio is in great physical pain today, but on top of that, she feels violated and scared, unsafe within the former sanctity of her own home. Office Depot’s recklessness has destroyed Ms. Osorio’s sense of safety She is severely traumatized by the incident and asks for privacy. She wanted to share the video because she is afraid of this man and because she wants others to know about these reckless practices so they are not also victims of corporate violence.”

“We will pursue this matter to the fullest extent of the law. Office Depot’s carelessness in this case is outrageous,” Ingber said.
