Maryland teacher charged with alleged sexual abuse of students

A high school teacher in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, was arrested on allegations of sexual abuse and inappropriate behavior involving two students at the school where he taught. According to police, the teacher committed illegal sexual contact within the school premises.

Karl Huston Walls, 27, was charged with second-degree rape, sexual assault of a minor, sexual solicitation of a minor, among other charges, according to a statement released by the Anne Arudel Police Department on Thursday.

Authorities began investigating the Northeast High School teacher in May after multiple allegations of sexual assault against Walls reached the Police Department.

Two students sued Walls, alleging that the teacher had sent them sexually explicit text messages, photos and videos. According to police reports, Walls allegedly had sexual contact with both victims and solicited child pornography from them. Police added that some of this abuse took place on school premises.

Walls was also charged with holding a knife to a student’s neck outside Northeast High School property and offering to hurt her with it. Police filed charges against Walls on Wednesday, who remains in jail to this day.

After learning of the allegations, Anne Arundel County Public Schools transferred Walls to a position with no access to student contact.

The Police Department suspects that there may still be more victims whose cases are unknown and urges anyone who can provide information to call the police tip line at 410-222-4700 or the child abuse unit at 410-222-0306. .
