The Minister of Economy of the Nation, Sergio Massa, summoned union leaders, social movements and businessmen to reach an agreement that provides price stability for 90 days, after the speculative maneuvers generated in the exchange market. The Tigrense received the representatives of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), headed by its Secretary General, Hector Daerand the Evita Movement, Fernando Navarro y emilio persicowho gave him their support.
“Once the stabilization process (in the financial sector) is over, I count on you to sit at the table together with the businessmen to establish the path of the next 90 days, so that there are no traps that some living people tried to carry out based on versions , rumors and that what he ended up doing is generating uncertainty in the people,” said Massa.
The minister announced that “from now until Friday we will continue working to stabilize the markets and the macroeconomic functioning, to summon businessmen to work together (unionists and social movements) over the weekend to give a path of 90 days of stability, to that people live without fear and that they know that the State fulfills its role” of guaranteeing stability. Massa described as an “inexplicable” attitude that “there are attempts to increase prices based on what was the increase in the blue dollar since last week, because all those who matter do so with the official dollar.”
So “they are not increases for macroeconomic reasons, but for fueled” and from the Government they will be “guarantors and controllers”. “For that we ask you for help”, unions and social movements, “to help in this task, so that there is supply and prices”. Massa warned that “the State stands firm and does not allow speculation”, even “understanding that the markets are transparent”, but nevertheless “the State has the responsibility of giving certainty to the people” before speculative maneuvers.
The minister also took advantage of the meeting to thank “the joint work so that workers pay less income tax for their travel expenses and overtime.” “Within a few hours, fewer workers will pay Earnings due to the increase in the non-taxable Earnings Tax minimum to $503,000, as of May 1st,” he recalled, referring to the recent announcement of his portfolio.
For his part, Daer highlighted the presence of the CGT “to guarantee support, trust and everything that has to do with generating the conditions for our people.” “We are not going to be spectators of a small group of ‘living’ who speculate using timba media in the financial sector, which end up harming everyone’s economy, especially those with fixed incomes, retirees, those who have social assistance”, said the union leader.
“We want to make an appeal to those who were not involved in financial speculation but were in the remarking of prices that, for the good of all, what we have to do, they have to roll back the prices”, requested the general secretary of the CGT. For his part, Emilio Pérsico told Massa: “Count on us to go mark those who raised prices”.
