Lima Peru.- President Dina Boluarte assured this Thursday that the opinion of her counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador regarding the situation in Peru due to the dismissal and detention of Pedro Castillo is not the same “feeling” of the Mexican people.

In a press conference, the President asserted that AMLO’s statements, which have been described by the government of the Andean country as “interference”, are erroneous opinions.

“Some Presidents of the region have erroneously interpreted the case of former President Pedro Castillo. I understand that (Gustavo) Petro at some point was removed from his position as Mayor and went to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and was reinstated, but This case is not similar to that of Castillo. There is a misinterpretation of those countries,” he said.

“We saw the opinions of the Mexican President and I think that it is not the feeling of the Mexican people regarding Peru.”

The President assured that through the Foreign Ministry she is working to be able to restore “so that our ambassadors who came in consultation to the country can return to the respective embassies.”

“It is very important for us to continue working with the countries of the region. We are all necessary to be able to continue interconnecting the development of each region in the interests of each country,” he added.
