Miami Dolphins sign a promise from the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Byron Matos traveled to the United States at the age of 16 in search of being an NBA player, but he changed his mind and is now a promise for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL.

The South Florida Bulls graduate was not drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, but announced on his social networks that he will sign a rookie contract with the South Florida team.

Emerging from the NFL’s ‘International Player Pathway’ program, Matos is a 23-year-old offensive tackle born in the Dominican Republic.

His 2.06 meters of height and 131 kilos of weight offered him his first snaps as a Defensive End and special teams player, until he found in the Offensive Tackle position a real possibility to prove himself in the most demanding league in the world.

Last week the player visited the Cincinnati Bengals facilities, a team that was also interested in signing him.

Last March the player shared his desire to reach a place in the NFL to raise the name of the Dominican Republic.

Although Matos was not chosen by any team in the Draft that lasted three days in Detroit, and in which the Dolphins made seven picks, with Chop Robinson being the first choice, the addition of Matos is fundamental, after the approval of many talent scouts.
