Microsoft is again reporting problems with the Microsoft 365 service. The group is investigating an ongoing outage that is blocking customers worldwide from accessing web applications such as Excel Online and other online services.

This is evident from various user reports. In addition, Microsoft has already confirmed the problems itself on Twitter and announced that it will find a solution as soon as possible.

List of affected services

The list of affected services includes the Microsoft 365 suite, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Yammer Enterprise, Planner, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365 for the web. According to reports, some customers are already having problems when trying to log into their accounts. For some, the registration itself does not work at all, for others the list of web apps remains empty.

“We’re investigating access issues with Microsoft 365 online apps and the Teams admin center. For more information, see OO544150 in the Microsoft 365 admin center,” the tweet said.

“Users may be intermittently unable to view or access web apps in Microsoft 365. We’re reviewing service monitoring telemetry to help isolate the cause and develop a plan to fix the issue,” the admin center describes the incident. Enterprise customers may receive an erroneous message that their user license has not yet been activated. In some cases, users are prompted to contact their IT department to resolve the issue. But there is a basic connection problem to the Microsoft 365 services, it is not a license problem. According to the latest status updates, the outage was caused by a caching infrastructure that is below an acceptable performance threshold, resulting in timeouts.

“Analysis of diagnostic data has identified an unusually high number of timeout exceptions within our caching and Azure Active Directory (AAD) infrastructure. We are working to isolate the cause of these exceptions while identifying steps to remediate the impact.” , according to Microsoft. Until there is something new, you will have to be patient.
