The Israeli army said it was “carrying out strikes in the Gaza Strip” after rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

Israeli airstrikes hit targets in the Gaza Strip at dawn on Thursday after rockets fired from the territory into Israel and caused no casualties.

Shortly after 6 a.m. (4 a.m. GMT), black smoke rose above one of the targeted locations north of Gaza City. In a statement sent to the press a few minutes later, the Israeli army indicated that it was “carrying out strikes in the Gaza Strip”.

According to Reuters, the Israeli army had earlier said that six rockets had been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

These rocket attacks come the day after an operation carried out by the Israeli army in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, during which eleven Palestinians were killed and more than 100 others injured.
