Michoacán.- A military convoy was ambushed in the mountainous area of Michoacán, in the territory of the Municipality of Coalcomán, military sources reported.

The attack by a criminal group, linked to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), was reported in the town of Barranca Seca, for which reason the soldiers repelled the attack and a confrontation ensued.

Although no official information has been released on the outcome of the confrontation, various communications reported one soldier dead and at least seven wounded.

The fallen uniformed man, it was reported unofficially, is the commander of the military unit belonging to the 65th Infantry Battalion, Colonel grade.

Personnel from the 43rd Military Zone, based in Apatzingán, moved to the area of the attack to support their colleagues, it was indicated.

Until now, the balance of the aggressors is also unknown, who attacked the military, apparently due to an operation carried out in the region since last Tuesday, in which the capture of Rosario Israel “N”, “El 22” was reported. , alleged operator of the CJNG in that mountain area.

The patrols also reported the arrest in Aguililla of Alma Antonia “N” in possession of doses of various drugs. The woman is linked to a subject known as the “Mataguaches”, a designated aggressor to the military troops using explosives.

The CJNG has a presence in Aguililla and Coalcomán for the operation of drug laboratories, with supplies that arrive at the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, according to ministerial reports.

Community members point out that the criminal group penetrated this region of Tierra Caliente under the flag of the self-defense groups, to weaken the criminal structure of Los Caballeros Templarios, then under the command of Servando Gómez, “La Tuta”.

In addition, authorities report that in the area they have found dozens of “kitchens” for the preparation of methamphetamine.

A drug laboratory with three rectors (for organic synthesis), they explained, is capable of producing between 120 and 150 kilos of synthetic drugs per day, which generates profits for organized crime of up to 40 million pesos every 24 hours.

The complicated access to the mountains and the surveillance with high firepower that the criminal cells have have limited the military deployment to dismantle these clandestine drug factories.
