the raid of Moore Threads in the disputed field of GPUs (graphics cards) has experienced a series of difficulties, and the launch of its graphics card MTB S80, is an example of how bad they come. This product has not only demonstrated unsatisfactory performance, but also can’t keep up with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, GPU released in October 2016. This conclusion arises from a series of tests carried out by the PC Watch team in Japan, who determined that, in addition to being less efficient than its rival, the MTT S80 has the disadvantage of higher energy consumption.

In tests carried out under DirectX11 (since version 12 is not compatible with this newly released graphics card), the gap with its competitor is remarkable. Take the game Rainbow Six Siege as an example: while the MTT S80 barely manages to reach 35 FPS, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti can hit an impressive 165.5 FPS, with the same graphic configuration. A similar pattern is seen with Apex Legends, where the MTT S80 tops out at 29.9 FPS compared to 108.9 FPS for the NVIDIA GPU. The situation is further aggravated by Assetto Corsa, which reports 3.5 FPS with the MTT S80 against at 318.9 FPS on the GeForce RTX 1050 Ti.

It is relevant to note that Moore Threads has a consumption of 255 W of TGP for the MTT S80, while NVIDIA sticks to 75W TGP on the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. Although the latter only has 4GB of DDR5 VRAM, limited to 112GB of bandwidth, it still outperforms the MTT S80, which, with its 16GB of VRAM, should theoretically be on par with the GPU. GeForce RTX 3060, or even surpass it.

We all know how competitive the GPU market can be, with NVIDIA and AMD dominating and the rest trying to gain some visibility. It’s great to see other companies trying to get into this fray, like Intel and their Arc line and even the arrival of Moore Threads on the scene.

Considering the PC Watch report, the Chinese company still has to solve many problems, The graphics card failed in almost all games, with crashes and display problems, that without touching the subject redeeming and consumption. The company has not made an official statement.
