Parcels and letters were once again left behind at Deutsche Post in Berlin and Brandenburg. The union called for further warning strikes in both federal states on Saturday. The campaigns got off to a good start, said Verdi department head Benita Unger. She assumes that around 2,000 employees in Berlin and Brandenburg will again take part in the warning strikes.

Postmen and other postal employees in Berlin had already gone on strike on Thursday. On Friday there were corresponding actions in both federal states.

With reference to the high inflation, Verdi is demanding 15 percent more salary for around 160,000 employees of Deutsche Post AG with a term of the collective agreement of twelve months. So far, a new collective agreement has been negotiated in two rounds, and nationwide talks are to be continued on February 8th and 9th.

Then Swiss Post wants to submit its own offer. “Despite the different positions, we assume that we will be able to hold fair and speedy talks in the next round of negotiations […] will move forward,” says a Post spokesman. (dpa)
