A serious fire in Miami’s Little Havana has left at least 14 people displaced, including a child and several pets.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at an apartment complex at 921 SW 7th Street, which was consumed by flames.

The incident caused a three-story building to be engulfed in dense columns of smoke and flames visible from the second and third floors, the channel reported. Telemundo 51.

Miami firefighters managed to contain the fire in less than 10 minutes thanks to an aggressive attack strategy, reported the spokesman for the rescue body, Pete Sánchez.

“We immediately went in to extinguish and look to make sure there were no residents. Everyone came out okay and we extinguished the fire within ten minutes,” he said.

Fortunately, no serious casualties were reported, although one person was treated for minor burns.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire, which apparently started between the second and third floors.

The Miami Red Cross has intervened to offer assistance and resources to those affected, since several units of the structure have been left uninhabitable.
