The biggest series Easter egg comes from Netflix this year: The thriller series “The Night Agent” recently celebrated its premiere and it is already clear: The streaming service has made the third most successful start of all time.

In the first week, the series was watched more than 168 million hours, in the second even 216 million hours. Only “Dahmer” and “Wednesday” were even more popular. A second season of The Night Agent has already been ordered.

main actor Gabriel Low (28) became a superstar overnight. The American plays the FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who is on night duty at the White House, answers an emergency call and shortly thereafter finds himself at the center of a conspiracy.

For Basso, The Night Agent is a turning point in his career. He was already in front of the camera as a teenager (“The Big C”, “Super 8”). But the worldwide attention is new to him in this dose.

The actor told BILD: “I wouldn’t call it scary that the whole world is watching at once. Being scared would mean that we can’t do what we’ve created with the series. All I can say is that each of us has the desire to entertain people as much as possible.”

The success proves the series right. Gabriel Basso: “The fact that we are the third highest-grossing Netflix series of all time feels somehow unreal. But I can’t relate this to myself alone. I know I’m the face of the show, but success is ours as a group. I’m proud of all of us!”

He was particularly fascinated by the physical challenges of the role. “I was drawn to the action scenes. I’ve never done anything like this properly before. I actually did a lot of the stunts and fights myself. It was a lot of fun, but also a challenge. Because that kind of action that we have on the show, you don’t get to see it in real life – so hopefully…”

What Basso is not so good at: “I’m not a very emotional person. I can’t cry at the touch of a button. I have to get the feel of the camera, I have to think about things that really make me sad – and that’s not always fun.”

In addition to acting, Basso is also a painter and illustrator. He shows his works on his Instagram account son.sonofnone. “When I paint, I can just sit down, turn my head off and start painting.”

He also relaxes when he reads: “It might be a strange kind of escapism, but my way of escaping the world is through books, and mostly even non-fiction books. I like going back into history because I am always amazed at how little we know about our history.”

Gabriel Basso reveals this about the second season

It is certain that there will be a second season. How is the series going? “I don’t know yet how season two will be. But I can promise that I’ll do everything in my power to make season two a step up from season one. The greatest danger is that we rest on the laurels of the first season. We should be proud of what we have achieved. But we should also realize that we have a responsibility now that everyone loves the show.”

Incidentally, Gabriel Basso has never been in the real White House. Laughing out loud, he says to BILD: “Neither for the shooting, nor as a tourist. Politics is killing me. Especially American politics.”
